  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from David Lucero -- A Well-Written, Highly Thoughtful Book : Total Fitness After 40 is a well-written, highly thoughtful book on how to get in shape and maintain a healthy lifestyle. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Dr. S. D. Yancey-Stewart -- The 7 Life Changing Foundations You Need In Your Life! : This book is like Prego Spaghetti sauce! What do I mean? I remember back in the 80s television commercial on this sauce - “It's in there!” In the jar you have everything you need in a Spaghetti Sauce because all the ingredients are already in it. That's how this book is - it breaks down everything you need to know about your body, nutrition, health, diets, exercise and more. So get ready to know you, your body, and how it functions. The principles in this book are life-changing foundations you need to know about how to live a healthier life. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 18, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Violetwrites Leftow -- Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2021 : This book covers more than just strength and flexibility. It also shows how to assess your current fitness and ongoing improvement, with achievable benchmarks. And it made me realize today, for the first time, that you don't have to do more than you are capable of doing and that you might surprise yourself by seeing that even though you can't do what others do, and some movements are painful, that there will be movements that can be adapted to your body and will not be painful. By luck, I ran into friends in the park who were using a park bench to hold on to while they did their routine. I followed along and it was great. I realized I need a list of doable exercises to begin. I'm so glad I stopped and joined in. ( I find the book very interesting, insightful and eye opening. I think this is the first time everything made sense about why my body behaves the way it does. The writing is aligned with science combined with Mr. Swettenham's extensive experience with training. A lot of it hit home for me. )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Vicky Courtright -- Combines multiple disciplines : I received a free copy of the book in exchange for my review. Nick has actually provided me with an arsenal of information in this 220 page nugget. I'm approaching 59 this year and while I like to think that I'm healthy and strong, I know there are always improvements that can be made. As a lifelong fitness participant, I appreciate the information that is presented as it not only touches all aspects of strength training and nutrition, it addresses hormonal components as well. A will written and thought out guide to help anyone start, continue or pursue a healthier life. ( Reviewed in the United States on September 9, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Gloria McMullen -- Pandemic got you down and you need to get back in shape - this is the must read to do it! : Loved this book! After reading, it has given me motivation to get fit and stay fit especially after the year we have had. The book covers more than just strength and flexibility - it goes over why it is important as we age to take care of ourselves and it doesn't matter what your age is now - just do it! It also shows how to assess your current fitness and then gives you the guidelines of how to improve your nutrition, stretching, sleep and all the components of exercise. Peace out - going to exercise! Thank you Nick for this insightful read. ( Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Garfield Martin -- Great book for over 40 : It took me a while to get the time in my schedule to read this but when I did, I wish I had made time for it earlier. I spent 20 years in the Army and I am now retired and I was able to learn more about overall fitness and my body in general. I would definitely recommend this anyone who is on the life long journey of fitness. Good stuff. Looking forward to the sequel. ( Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Michael Wood -- FITT at 47! : Stepping into a gym after years of no exercise and self neglect was a daunting prospect. I was out of shape, couldn’t afford a personal trainer and didn’t have a plan. After a circuit around the gym and a half hearted 10 minutes walking on the treadmill I sheepishly slipped out the gym cursing myself. Everyone else seemed to know what they were doing, and I thought I would before I walked in there. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on June 28, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Gareth Hopkins -- Fascinating Read! A Wealth of Practical Advice for Excelling at Fitness in your Glory Years! : I don't normally write reviews but felt compelled having gained so much knowledge by this fantastic guide for complete fitness in your forties. For background, I am fairly fit, doing 3 HiiT classes a week as well as long-distance running. I came at this book knowing that while I have a good level of fitness, there are areas I need to improve upon and clear gaps in my training. That and the fact that as my own fortieth birthday approaches I am getting injured more and finding it harder to achieve new PB's. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 3, 2021 )

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Miss Freya Krol -- An invaluable resource for all ages! : I bought this book as a gift for my mum, but ended up having a quick read through the chapters and was pleasantly surprised as to how many information was applicable for me as a 22 year old! The layout of the book is really easy to follow, as the signposting with the chapter titles makes the information very clear and concise. I especially liked how the book takes the time to comprehensively explain the reasoning BEHIND different exercises and nutrition choices, making it easier to pick and choose which one were most applicable for me and my lifestyle. The pictures showing the correct form for various exercises was also a nice touch. Really happy with this purchase! ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 23, 2021 )
